Here's last night's class. It was tough!
- All Good (Zeroleen) - warmup
- Urgent (Foreigner) and Spitfire (Prodigy) - 9:30 climb, focusing on cadence. We started at 70 rpm and worked our way up to 85 rpm for the last 90 seconds of the climb.
- Welcome to Paradise (Greenday) - easy flat road
- The Hand That Feeds (Nine Inch Nails) and It Began in Afrika (Chemical Brothers) - 7:08 climb, focusing on resistance. We alternating sitting and standing every minute. When we stood, we added resistance. When we sat back down, we took off HALF the added resistance, so the hill got progressively steeper and steeper.
- Tick Tick Boom (The Hives) and Woman (Wolfmother) - 6:30 flat road with 20 second intervals: 20 seconds hard, 20 seconds easy. Repeat repeat repeat.
- Boom Shaka Laka (Shaggy), Rose (Who Made Who), and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (U2) - 13:30 climb. The big one! We focused on cadence during the first climb and resistance during the second climb. For this hill, we put it together. We added resistance every 2:30 without slowing down. As the hill got steeper, we had to work harder to maintain our speed.
- Gia (Despina Vandi) - 7:00 fast flat. Goal cadence was 100 rpm for 7 minutes. The song is 8 minutes long, though, so we started our cooldown in the last minute.
- Mi Corazon (Bajofondo Tango Club) - cooldown and stretch
And once again... LET'S GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!
Hello hello. I am a Flyers fanatic, a runner, a triathlete, an animal lover, a workout maniac, a stickler for proper grammar, and a lover of challenging Sudoku and crossword puzzles, good books, and great tunes. This blog is about most of those topics -- running, racing, the Flyers, my critters, class ideas, and my deep (and not so deep) thoughts. Please leave comments! I love reading them.

Broad Street: T minus 6 days...
After yesterday's long run, I feel much better about Broad Street. I felt great throughout my 7.25-miler (except when I was running up Mt. Lebanon Road!) and did it in 1:02:57, for an 8:41 average pace. If I can stay healthy and get lots of rest this week (doubtful, considering how hellacious my allergies are right now), I might be able to do Broad Street in 1:25. Maybe.
More importantly... GO FLYERS!!!!!!!

Let's go, Flyers! (eh eh eheheh)

Seriously, is there anything better than playoff hockey??
My running isn't the greatest right now... and I'm exhausted... but my boys made it to Round 2 and I'm the happiest girl in the world!
Plus, I'm completely inspired and awed after watching the Boston Marathon this weekend. I saw old friends and met new ones, cheered for loved ones and complete strangers, and loved every minute of it. Makes me wanna get out there and keep on training.
