Last week I posted a mostly complete list of all the concerts I've been to. (I'm sure I missed some, even with my brother and husband helping to fill in the blanks.)
Today's lists are a bit different.
Concerts I have not seen but would like to:
Madonna
Prodigy
Chemical Brothers
Tool
Foo Fighters
Stone Temple Pilots
Concerts I'm heartbroken that I'll never see:
Beastie Boys
Stevie Ray Vaughan
The Beatles
Talking Heads
Queen
Nirvana
The Smiths
LED ZEPPELIN (#1 on the list by far)
Hello hello. I am a Flyers fanatic, a runner, a triathlete, an animal lover, a workout maniac, a stickler for proper grammar, and a lover of challenging Sudoku and crossword puzzles, good books, and great tunes. This blog is about most of those topics -- running, racing, the Flyers, my critters, class ideas, and my deep (and not so deep) thoughts. Please leave comments! I love reading them.

Oh Lance, why???
Why are you giving up? Do you realize that it may cause some people (OK, a lot of people) to assume that you're guilty after all? You've maintained all along that you're clean. You're the most tested athlete in history and passed every test with flying colors. Why give up now? If you're truly innocent, FIGHT. And keep fighting. And keep believing. Because you know what? You're an inspiration to thousands of people. Millions. We believe in you, and we believe anything is possible because of you.
You got cancer, and you fought back, and you won.
You endured the most grueling endurance test on earth, and you fought hard, and you won. SEVEN TIMES.
You have faced accusations and half-truths and downright lies. And you fought back. You submitted to every test they threw at you. And you won. You passed all those tests. Blood tests, urine tests, random tests. Your samples were all clean.
I know you're tired of fighting. I do understand that feeling, although I can't say I've been through anything like what you've been through all these years. I know it's exhausting. And expensive. And frustrating.
But you're LANCE FREAKING ARMSTRONG.
If you won't fight, who will?
And if you're giving up because you really did cheat, and you've been bamboozling us all along, I want you to know that I'm devastated. I believed in you. I defended you whenever anyone said anything negative. I stayed glued to the tv and Internet during the Tour all those years and cheered for you. I bought your story, every word of it. Now that you're giving up and giving in, I have to wonder if my allegiance was misplaced.

Tunes are my life
A former boss once called me First Name "Tunes Are My Life" Last Name. She didn't know me that well, but it was a very astute observation. I love music. LOVE it.
Last night in physical therapy, my therapist and I started talking about concerts we've been to. His list was impressive, and when I went home I started brainstorming and trying to remember all the shows I've seen. Here is the list I've come up with so far. I'm sure there are accidental omissions. (Maybe my brother will pick up on any that are missing!) An asterisk denotes someone I've seen multiple times.
In no particular order....
KISS (first concert ever, in 6th grade... yes, my mom ROCKS)
J. Geils Band
Journey
The Hooters *
The Rolling Stones
English Beat *
UB40
INXS *
Genesis
Elvis Costello
Blondie
U2 *
Pearl Jam *
Eddie Vedder
Muse
Fine Young Cannibals
REM *
LL Cool J
Prince *

You can totally see that I'm a child of the 80s based on that list! :)

Some tip's for you
What is the fascination with apostrophe's used for plural word's? It seem's to be a thing now. Let's review, shall we?
Apostrophe - indicates possession, like Steve's car or the building's facade.
Apostrophe - also indicates a contraction (the omission of one or more letters to join two words into one), such as can't, won't, don't, isn't, and I'm.
Plural - indicates more than one.
Apostrophe to indicate a plural - just wrong.
See how ridiculous the first two sentences in this post look? (As well as the post title.) They're a's ridiculou's a's thi's sentence i's.

Top 10 Olympic Moments
10. The lighting of the torch at the end of the opening ceremony, with petals representing each competing country making up the Olympic torch. What a nice way to incorporate all of the countries.
9. The Chinese divers. They are in a class of their own.
8. Gabby Douglas' smile. Get this girl a Colgate endorsement!!
Seriously, could she BE any cuter?
7. Volleyball! I don't care who is playing... Those games are phenomenal. (I'm talking about the indoor competition.) Watching them play makes me miss my vball days.
6. Did anyone watch Jordan Jovtchev, the 39 year-old Bulgarian gymnast? Yes, that says 39. He competed in the men's rings final in his SIXTH Olympics.
5. The down-to-the-final-moment team competition in women's gymnastics. A total nailbiter, but worth staying up late for.
4. TWELVE-PACK ABS! Holy schmoley these women are specimens!
I need to spend more time at the track, clearly.
3. Phelps Phelps Phelps!!! Thank you, Michael, for inspiring so many of us with your commitment, intensity, grace, humility, and unbelievable talent.
2. For the first and only time in Olympics history, "Firestarter" by Prodigy was featured in the opening ceremony (audio and video). Loved it!
1. And finally, my #1 Olympics moment of 2012: Kirani James asks Oscar Pistorius to exchange bibs after their 400m semifinal heat. "He's an inspiration for all of us," James said. "He's very special to our sport. He's a great individual — it's time we see him like that and not anything else."
THIS is what the Olympics are all about.

Something strange is going on
I have never been a morning person. In fact, when I was younger and more self-centered, I was occasionally downright putrid in the morning -- unpleasant, irritable, moody, and ready to snap at whatever poor soul crossed my path. (Ugh. That's pretty embarrassing to admit.)
Over the past two years or so, as life has become increasingly busy and insomnia has refused to release me from its grasp, I have turned myself into a morning workout person. Most days, when the alarm goes off at 5:30 a.m., I get up and get it done. After work, I'm just too tired, too busy, too over-committed to work out, so the mornings seem to work better for me.
However, recently I've skipped some morning workouts because I just cannot drag myself out of bed at 5:30. That extra hour of sleep is too appealing... too persuasive. "Stay in bed," it tells me. "Sleep!"
The trouble is, I don't sleep. I end up tossing and turning for that hour, getting 5 or 10 minutes of sleep before waking up again, looking at the clock in exasperation, and trying again. When the alarm goes off and I get up for good, I feel FAR worse than I would have if I'd just gotten up and worked out, fercrissakes. For the rest of the day, I'm groggy, unfocused, lethargic, and fighting to stay awake. It happened Tuesday, and it's happening again today.
So my question is this. Do I feel this way because of the ill-fated extra hour of non-sleep? Or because of the skipped workout? In other words, is there something physiological about working out in the morning that really, truly gives you more energy throughout the day? I mean, I know it feels that way, but is that real or just a placebo effect?
