A few weeks ago I thought about skipping it. My training has been nonexistent, and the few times I've attempted speedwork did not go well. Last week was not a good one; I was ill all week, stayed home from work one day, got subs for two of my three classes, and worked out for a grand total of 32 minutes in four days. Then I heard the forecast for Saturday morning: cold, windy, cold, and cold.
That settled it. No 5K for me.
This morning I checked the results. Based on what I know I could do (even with the lousy training), I would have finished 2nd in my age group in a field of 3,000 runners.
And I would have gotten to run the bases at Citizens Bank Park.
And I would have received a signed ball as a prize for my AG finish.
So today I'm feeling like a big fat loser for skipping it. So what if I wasn't going to PR? I have to reset my attitude about this whole racing thing. No PR? NO BIG DEAL. Just get out there and do my best. And depending on who else shows up, my best on any particular day just might be good enough.
In other news, I ordered these super cool arm warmers on Friday and can't wait to get them!

We just had the Angels 5K....but I could not run it due to family obligations. Plus running the bases part is crazy! That is when a bunch of people stop running and slow everyone down and casue collisions. yuck. Plus I am not a local Angel fan, my heart lies with a team in the East. Keep running, even when the weather is no good!
Chin up, girlfriend! Love the arm warmers!!!
