"You gotta cut me, Mick. Cut me."
That's basically what I look like right now. OK, minus the blood and stuff. I have this... thing. I don't know what it is. It may have been a little tiny ingrown eyebrow hair or something originally, but of course I picked at it and now I've created this mass of awfulness -- ON MY FACE.
It's hard like a little pebble, right under the skin, right above my left eye. Lovely. And of course it's infected, I guess, because it's all swollen and red and irritated. And HUGE. My eye is nearly swollen shut from the weight of it.
WTF???
I'm painting a beautiful picture, aren't I?
Here's the kicker. I know I should call the doctor. The logical part of me knows that. But what if he says I can't wear any makeup? Or, even worse, can't go out in the sun this weekend??? I mean, I wait all year for summer, and then I wait all week to be able to just lay in the sun for a few hours on the weekend. It's relaxing, and I find it enjoyable. Yes, I wear sunscreen (SPF 15, even though I'm olive-complected to begin with, and 30 on my face). Yes, I have a hat to put on when I've had enough. And yes, I limit my time in the sun -- maybe only 90 minutes to two hours each day, weather permitting.
And yes, I know it's not good for me. But you know what? It's my only vice. I don't drink. I don't smoke. I'm one of the 13 people in the entire universe that's never done ANY drugs, not even a puff. I eat well, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy weight, and do all the right stuff. So if I want to get a little tan in the summer, I don't feel too badly about it.
Wait, this post was supposed to be about my hideous disfigurement! Hello, random thought process!
So anyway. Doctor or no doctor?

Doctor!!!
Take care of it, and then work on your tan. Sadly, I don't think it's going away all by itself.... :(
I can't believe I'm saying this ... but I think you should go to the doctor. Of course the doc will be vague, not really solve anything, and probably refer you to a specialist ... but you should probably go. Not a big doctor guy here.
(I've never-ever toked here either - not even a puff. I know that makes me incredibly uncool!)
Why would you want to wear makeup? Get that thing looked at before it becomes flesh eating bacteria!!
ps. ouch.
Because I'm hideous without it??? Seriously.
I called the doc and left a message on his nurse's voicemail. We'll see what she says. Ironically, I have an appointment for my glute (to get a prescription for physical therapy, basically) on Monday. At the very least, the doc can see it then.
Jim, I knew I liked you!!! Uncool non-drug users unite!
The doctor will just drain it and it will be gone, takes less then 30 seconds to do. Ask for numbing cream before he does it
Doctor. While waiting I would put as hot a compress on it as possible over and over in an attempt to solve the problem myself. I have no idea if that would be a good idea or not :-)
Doctor, you probably need antibiotics to clear it up. If you don't want to go, try a sea salt solution several times a day.
P.s. I'm also one of the 13 who've never done any drugs. Just need to find the 11 others. ;-)
You can get your face and butt looked at in the same appointment -- genius! And time saving too. lol. In grade 10 I had this big zit on my nose and I squeezed it and picked it and it got infected and was HUGE. The scab was deep and BLACK. I was so freaked. It took a while but it eventually healed. I was so scared I was going to need a skin graft or something, I am not kidding!
