It's June already?? What?

Remember when you were younger, and it seemed like everything took forevah?? And grownups (read: OLD people) complained about how quickly time was passing?

Yeah, now I'm that old person. Awesome!

Sarcasm over. I'm having some trouble with my right leg -- unrelated to old age, thankyouverymuch. It started as a very deep, very acute pain in my glute. Like, deep deep deep in the glute, down low near where the glute and hamstring attach. I know it bothered me on that hell run Saturday, but I can't for the life of me remember when it actually started.

I didn't run again until Wednesday, and from the very first step it was there again. Every time my right leg would stride forward, whammo! Pain. All day Wednesday, I had to walk in a modified limp, as I realized that I could reduce the pain if I bent my knee less. So I was walking fairly normally with my left leg, but with my right leg almost straight at all times.

By Thursday, the pain had travelled way south to right behind my right kneecap -- that tendon that attaches the knee to the hamstring. Holy mother of........ Hurt like hell all day! In yoga, I couldn't straighten my right leg at all. Great, so Wednesday I could barely bend my knee for the pain, and Thursday I couldn't do anything BUT bend my knee.

Today is a little better... Maybe yoga helped? Also not running since Wednesday morning? So what am I going to do after work? Run, of course. Wish me luck!

yep, time is flying faster and faster every year :-(.

Do you have "the stick" to roll that area out? It's thinner than a foam roller so it's easier to get to that spot where your glute and hammy attach.

Sounds like piriformis to me. Do you have a tennis ball? Roll your butt/hammy area right where it hurts and it should help loosen it up some.

No rolling. No running. :( I couldn't even run laps around the studio this morning for my boot camp warmup. The pain started with the first stride forward with my right leg. Dangit!

What's weird is that NOTHING else bothers me. Lunges, burpees, step-ups, etc. No problems. Just running. How am I going to lose 10 pounds before July 14 (vacation) if I can't run????

Rest is good when you are in pain. Oh, I meant to tell you, yoga just wasn't working all that well for me so I am focusing more on swimming, biking and running these days. Also, I am doing the LavaLove Triathlon (Sprint) in Lavallette, NJ on Saturday. I am going to be slow, but at least I am going to be racing.
